Surrounded by 4.6 km of fortifications, Old Quebec includes the Upper Town and Lower Town, home to several iconic sites. Saint-Jean and Saint-Louis streets, the ramparts, Dufferin Terrace, and the cliffs overlooking the river are prominent landmarks. The district, dominated by the Château Frontenac, is characterized by its narrow streets and built heritage, reflecting different periods in the city's history. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is the only remaining fortified complex in North America.

Enjoy August's festivals and events!

Quebec City is a vibrant city that shines with its many festivals and events throughout the year. In August, the Grands Feux Loto-Québec Fireworks lights up the sky above the river every evening accompanied by festivities, while the New France Festival immerses the city in its historical past. Music lovers can enjoy the Festibière de Québec with its tastings and shows, or discover French-language music with the SuperFrancoFête and the Festival Cigale . For those who enjoy other art forms, Plein Art (Craft Fair) welcomes more than 100,000 visitors each year and brings together more than sixty carefully selected artists, while the Just for Laughs Quebec comedy festival is a key player in the global comedy industry.

Around downtown, several Quebec City neighborhoods each reveal their own unique character. Saint-Jean-Baptiste charms with its sloping streets and gourmet restaurants, while Montcalm stands out as an arts district with its museum and refined restaurants. Further down, Saint-Roch illustrates the city's urban transformation, blending creativity, gastronomy, and nightlife, while Saint-Sauveur retains a popular and friendly charm in full revitalization.

A little further north, Limoilou attracts visitors with its community and family spirit, with its Grand Marché and green spaces. Further west, Sillery combines heritage, elegance, and nature, notably thanks to its historic homes, parks, and the Promenade Samuel-de-Champlain along the river.

Admire Montmorency Falls and Île d'Orléans

Just minutes from downtown, Montmorency Falls impress with their 83 meters of height, some 30 meters higher than Niagara Falls. You can admire them from the suspension bridge, take the panoramic staircase, or even discover them by cable car.

Just across Saint-Lawrence river, Île d'Orléans invites you on a rural getaway through its picturesque villages, farm-lined roads, and local producers. Known as the "Garden of Quebec," the island is distinguished by its agricultural landscapes, orchards, and views of the river and the city. It's a great place to discover the region's rural history while enjoying its gourmet specialties.

Quebec City and its surrounding areas offer many opportunities to enjoy nature and outdoor activities. Closer to the city, the Saint-Charles River Linear Park offers 32 km of trails to explore the river and its developed banks on foot or by bike, while observing the local flora and fauna. Other major areas, such as Battlefields Park (Plains of Abraham) and Samuel de Champlain Promenade Park, offer a combination of trails, panoramas, and sports or family activities, allowing you to fully enjoy nature without straying far from the city.

Quebec City is making its mark on the international gastronomic scene with its Michelin-starred restaurants. The prestigious Tanière³ earned two stars for its inventive cuisine rooted in the boreal terroir and served in a unique underground setting. Four other establishments received one star: ARVI , recognized for its creativity and use of local ingredients in a friendly atmosphere; Kebec Club Privé , which offers an intimate experience around an exclusive table d'hôte; Laurie Raphaël , a family institution that combines modernity and culinary traditions; and Légende , which celebrates 100% local cuisine inspired by indigenous knowledge. These distinctions establish Quebec City as a leading culinary destination. Note that some of these restaurants require reservations several months in advance.
